Clammy weed is in flower in a dried river bed. The flower have short white petals and red “whiskers.” This plant is about 18 inches high.
Each pollinated flower of clammy weed grows into a long seed pod which is green. It will eventually turn brown and split open.

Clammy Weed is an unusual annual native plant of Michigan. It tends to occur in disturbed areas in sand, clay or gravel. It has short white petals and red “whiskers” (actually stamens). It has sticky glands all over it and a funny smell. This plant grows, flowers and sets seed in one season. It spreads by seed.
