Goat’s Beard (Aruncus dioicus)

from $5.50

Goat’s Beard is similar to Spikenard in that it is a large shrub-like plant that comes up from the ground every year. It has a spray of small cream-colored flowers that are alive with pollinators during bloom time.

This species has separate male and female plants, so in order for seeds to form, you’d need 3-5 plants to increase your chances of having both male and female.

Goat’s Beard is not native to Michigan, but is somewhat popular for landscaping and is a wonderful pollinator plant. If you are seeking to only include native to Michigan plants, you should skip this one.
