Northern Bedstraw is a plant that can be found in prairies, fens, in forests, and on forests edges. In some places, it is the most common plant present in the forest.

Bedstraws tend to have whorls of leaves and Northern Bedstraw has whorls of four leaves with 3-5 veins down each lance-shaped leaf. Flowers are bright white and small, usually numerous, and have four petals.

Some of the bedstraws have seeds with tiny bristles that stick to clothing and fur. They are transported to new areas in this way. Northern Bedstraw may either have this kind of seeds or smooth seeds.

Use this plant in between other plants as a filler, or in groups of 3-5 in the woodland garden.
