Tufted Loosestrife (Lysimachia thyrsiflora)
from $5.50
Sold Out
Tufted Loosestrife is found throughout Michigan in wet places like swamps, edges of lakes, bogs and fens. It can grow in standing water.
Clumps (spheres) of flowers grow out of the leaf axils. They are yellow, or yellow-orange. Swamp Candles and Tufted Loosestrife are the showiest loosestrife species, in my opinion.
Like the other Lysimachia, Tufted Loosestrife produces floral oil that is collected by certain bees for their young. This plant is also the host for the Loosestrife Borer Moth.
If you don’t have a spot that stays consistently wet in your yard, you can grow this species in a pot.
Companion Plants: Swamp Candles, Rushes, Joe Pyeweed, Groundnut, Cardinal Flower
