Whorled Loosestrife (Lysimachia quadrifolia)

Whorled Loosestrife (Lysimachia quadrifolia) has whorls of usually four leaves (but sometimes 2-6). The flowers grow out of the leaf axils and are yellow with red centers.

Whorled Loosestrife is most often found in savannas and dry woodlands. It may also be found in the sun in moist places. The flowers produce pollen and like other Lysimachia plants, they produce floral oil. The flowers are rather showy as they are yellow with red centers.
