Yellow Violet (Viola pubescens)
from $5.50
Sold Out
Just as the trees leaves start to darken the forest floor, this little violet shows off its yellow flowers on a stalk above the basal leaves.
Michigan Flora identifies all yellow violets in Michigan under Viola pubescens. Recent nomenclature changes split this species into two with the other being Viola eriocarpa, often referred to as smooth yellow violet. I will refer to our violets as Viola pubescens to stick with Michigan Flora.
Yellow Violet can be found with Canada Violet and Cream Violet in rich woodlands!
Don’t be alarmed if this violet disappears in the summer. Although I do continue to see them in the forest, in my yard, they tend to die back and reappear the next spring..
